1986 David Lynch film that is Mark Kermode's prime example of a film he was wrong about. When he first saw it, he was not only left cold, but actively detested the thing. Later, having been urged to go back and look at it again, he realised how much he had misjudged it.

Mark once told David Lynch this, going to great lengths to explain just how much he couldn't stand the film on its initial release. Lynch looked rather perplexed, not knowing that ultimately, the twist ending would be that Mark changed his mind.

After Mark revealed that he hated The Big Lebowski - another cult movie with a massive fanbase - many Wittertainees implored Mark to rewatch it, in the hope he would undergo the same experience. It hasn't happened.
